Changed behavior??

224 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Mary Lee
My hedgehog is usually a sweet boy who only hisses when being taken out of his home. Though recently he has been nonstop hissing…. And I don’t know if he is sick, or what. He is not quilling though, he already went through that twice, and there is no quills in his cage. He is showing no other signs of sickness beside the behavior change. What should I do????

How old is he? Hedgehogs do go through a stage where they get moodier at 5-7 months old. If not I recommend checking on behaviour more often to see if he’s been eating anything he shouldn’t be, if yes consult a vet.

He’s been eating and drinking, and he is around 12 months old. So- a year.

He might be stressed, has anything new happened? New cage, different food, different bedding?

Not sure might be just he’s not feeling very happy recently
Instead of mealworms try wax worms. meal worms can cause problems for them later on in life. Bone and joint pain. Mine love live wax worms and crickets.
