Hello all.

My sister’s 1 yr old hedgehog, Ollie, recently started developing a lump where his top right tooth was (it fell out). She took him to the vet today and they are pretty sure it’s cancer :( I thought I’d pop on here and see if anyone else had a hedgie that young develop cancer, the vet said he hasn’t ever seen it before. They sent in a biopsy of the lump and we should have results back early next week. We are both heartbroken and are hoping it’s some kind of infection or benign cyst although the vet seemed pretty certain. He gave her some Meloxicam in the mean time which would start to work if it’s some kind of infection.

Sadly it can happen. I had a male develop cancer at 1 year 1 week of age. Woke up one morning to a bloody eye. He had basal cell cancer. Quills crossed that the biopsy comes back as something that can be treated easily.
