Im just woundering, Ive let my hedgie try alot of differant fruits, and i wanna know if its safe to give her a blue bery (its fun watching her annoint )

Also one other question: sometimes my hedgie gets in these "bad moods" and she wont let me pic her up without spikeballing and hissing, what should i do when she does that? leave her alone, or try to pick her up?

Blueberries are alright, but someone said that you should take the skin off to prevent choking. For her bad moods, I would pick her up anyway, to make sure she knows she can't scare you off by doing that. If she's between three to six months or so, it's likely that she's quilling and she could have sore skin. Just be gentle when she's grumpy and talk to her quietly. Let her settle down on her own in your lap.

I have never peeled a blueberry in my life and see no reason to.

The skin on some fruit's is toxic to Hedgie's (such as Grapes) so if you peel them then Hedgie's can eat them (in small amounts).

So thats the reason for peeling them.

Do NOT give grapes to a hedgehog PERIOD! We do not know what part of the grape is toxic so peeling it isn't going to prevent renal failure.

Blueberry skin is not toxic.

I'm assuming that by toxic you mean cross-reactive fruit skins which cause oral allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. The common cross-reactive fruits are Kiwis, strawberries, apples, pears, cherries, plums, peaches, nectarines, papaya, and pineapples. Unless a hedgehog is known allergic to birch pollen, those fruits shouldn't bother them.

I have heard a lot of people giving their hedgies peeled grapes for the reason I stated above.(do not believe that I've read that on this site but several other places)
I personally Do Not give them to mine.
I don't give anything to mine that I'm not sure of.
Grapes may of been a bad example I wasn't telling anyone to feed them to their Hedgie (although I can see that it could come off that way).
I was just trying to give some examples of why some fruits are peeled.
Some fruit peels can be a little tough and could choke on them. (reason I peel some of my own fruit :roll: )
