I took my almost 3 yr old Oliver to the vet 2 weeks ago. He had bloody stool and the fecal test came back negative for colitis and parasites. I noticed he was drinking and eating more. He was put on metronidazole for a bacterial infection. I gave it to him for 10 days. His poop looked normal again, but he was straining a lot to pee and poop. When I checked on him today his poop was bloody again and smells terrible. His penis is completely out when he pees, which is not normal for him. His breathing has also been heavier which is not normal for him. If anyone has had something similar happen or has any insight to what's wrong please share.

They did another fecal test and found no bacteria or yeast. He still has bloody stool. Tomorrow his doctor will call me to set up an appt after she talks to a few specialists. He has so many small issues that may be related to each other, but may not be. Very thankful for the doctor and the experience she has.

Just an Update:
Oliver still has bloody poop. He is still straining to use the bathroom. The vet wanted to switch to hedgehog specific food and meal worms with crickets. She thinks this may help, but I just think if it was his food, then these problems would have surfaced years ago. He still seems his normal curious self. I'm keeping a close eye on him and doing everything I can. I'll keep you posted. Thanks guys.
