I've been meaning to upload this forever. This is a video we took of our second hedgehog, Ruby. An albino girl, she was massively obese when she was picked up by the rescue, and Renee warned us when we adopted her that she would most likely not be healthy or long lived. She eventually passed on, of course, five and a half years later, after a long and active life. Ruby would have the run of the apartment most evenings, and we set up a nest of blankets for her in the office between her cage and another, where she would snooze away until she was ready to go back to her cage. When she'd decided she'd had enough out time, she'd trundle over to where my wife was sitting, and patiently put a paw on her foot, indicating it was time for bed.

Anyway, this video is of her settling into the nest between the cages. Sorry for the darkness of the images, apparently YouTube doesn't think much of Quicktime.

Please don't use Ruby as an example of a healthy weight! She was over a kilo when she was rescued, and first Renee and then we got her down to around 650g, but she was always a "big girl".

She was a real cuddler though, and she could be very determined about going "through" stuff rather than "around" :)
