My hedgie has been prescribed baytril. The vet wasn't quite sure what is wrong with her. She hasnt been eating as much, or as active, and her nose is a little runny. He agrees she's sick with something though and he thinks it's a virus or cold, though he examined her discharge under a microscope and couldn't find any obvious indicators of a cold.
question: would baytril be rough on an empty stomach? i bought some a/d and syringed it to her, and then gave her the baytril just to put something in her belly. now i'm worried the new food and antibiotic might have been a bad idea together!
also, how much of the a/d is too much? i know it's really fatty but she hasn't been eating much of anything and she seems to like it.

Baytril is not only hard on the stomach, it has the most horrid, bitter taste that is hard to disguise. I'd feed her as much AD as she'll eat. The big danger when they are sick is weight loss, which stresses them and leads to complications. Feed her whatever she'll eat.
