I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! Introducing my future baby hedgehog--he's just over two weeks old and obviously still with the breeder, but she was nice enough to send along a picture of him so I can fawn over it for the next six weeks. He's too prosh and so teeny!

Anyone want to venture a totally premature guess at what color he's going to be? My better judgment reminds me that you really can't know at this point, as he will quill again at 6 and 8 weeks of age and even then, that's only his juvenile color. But I think it's fun to speculate anyway :) His mama is a Chocolate, his daddy a Cinnacot. His nose looks dark liver-colored, not black to me--could that be an indicator of what's to come? Anyone? Even though this is a silly question, I still just wanted to introduce everyone to Future Baby Hedgie and say hello--it's my first post![attachment=0:y2m5wles]hedgieboy.jpg[/attachment:y2m5wles]

Awww, he's so cute!! :D I don't think there's any chance you could get a color guess at this point that could be anywhere close to correct. As far as I know, you could get any number of colors from a breeding, it's hard to predict what you might get. So, I think you'll just have to wait and see for the color. :) Congratulations, though!

Actually believe it or not there is one person I know who you can name the parents colors and he can accurately tell you what colors are available to babies of those parents. And believe it or not he has all this information in his head. Doesn't need to look at genetic charts. It could be that he actually developed those color charts and genetic outcome charts. It is our very own Bryan. He rattles off such information at times and it just makes you wanna slap him. But we are very privileged to have such a person who runs this website and charges us lowly peasants nothing. We are lucky to have such a valuable resource for hedgie information.

Lol, wow, I didn't know he could do that!! That's really cool. I need to make sure I remember to ask him for more information, if he's willing to put up with my questions, I want to do a genetics project on hedgehog colors, if I have enough information available, and if my professor says that it's an acceptable topic. I was thinking about actually taking Lily in with me to class and showing her off while I do my presentation. :)

Hehe, Bryan, you show off.

At this time, I'd say he is a Raspberry Sparkle Delight. But after 9 weeks, who knows, it will probably change. ;)
