I am new to hedgies and am gradually doing everything good for them that I have learned here at HHC.
I have each of my hedgies in an 82c Tommy cage. They measure 32" long by 18" wide by 17" high. I have CWS wheels and they fit nicely as far as height goes but they take up a lot of floor space and one hedgie is VERY active. I have watched her run on the wheel, get off and run circles around the base of the wheel. I would like to give them both more room.
So I need some guidance. I want to buy a third cage and put it in between the two I have and then divide it in half and connect each half of that cage to one of the other cages with pvc tubes. I would use the middle divded cage for their wheels. This would give them much more floor space in their main cage for their igloos, water, food, and I could even use a litter pan under the wheels in the divided cage.
How would I cut holes into the bottom pan of the cage? I know I would cut the holes to match the diameter of the tubing but what do you cut the holes with? The plastic for the bottoms of the cage pans is thicker than storage box plastic.
Thank you!
