I've been trying to put fruit in my hedgies food dish, sprinkled over his regular food, to enhance his diet and give him a little variety on a nightly basis. Been doing this for awhile, but I got to wondering how much fruit is ok?

Also, on something juicy like watermelon, is it a good idea to get extra juices on the regular kibble for extra nutrients/vitamins/flavor or does this make a minimal (or bad!) difference?

Thanks for any help!

Offer fruit 3-4 times a week. Many people suggest letting them have as much as they can eat for about 15 minutes, but some of my hedgehogs are shy about eating in public. I typically leave three to five pieces (depending on the fruit and hedgehog) overnight, or for a few hours (if it is a fruit that spoils quickly.)

Leaving the juice of the fruit isn't going to make a huge difference. If your hedgehog enjoys the flavor, though, I don't see why you can't continue to do that.
I personally, keep treats and kibble separate though.
