Ive been giving my hedgehog baths in vegetable oil (she had mites and I was doing it to try and help soothe her before I could get her to the vet) and recently she's started losing a lot of quills. I know it's not because of the mites so I was wondering if maybe I didn't rinse her off well enough and now the excess oil is causing her spines to fall out. Is this possible?

How did you determine she has mites?
How often are you giving her baths?
How do you KNOW the quill loss isn't from mites?

While oil will help with dry skin, it doesn't help with mites and makes other skin infections worse.
Repeated washing even with oil will dry their skin.
Mites can cause quill loss.
