I know this is a weird question but does anyone know anything about getting your hedgehog insured? I know people do it with cats and dogs but I think it would be awesome if you could do it with hedgies.
Not a weird question & something more people should consider. We have a sticky, VPI offers coverage for hedgehogs (and a wide range of other animals) - http://www.hedgehogcentral.com/foru...2970-veterinary-pet-insurance-please-pin.html I haven't gotten around to actively checking into it yet, but I'm planning to get Bindi covered, and possibly my ball python as well. I know a couple of people on here have their hedgehogs covered.
I have Nico insured through VPI. The plan was $80ish (not remembering the exact amount offhand) per year, reimburses 90%, and has a $50 deductible. I've taken her in to the vet once since then and will be receiving a $60 check here shortly. And believe me, I'm glad I got it as it looks like she's going back for diagnostic testing soon.
One thing to keep in mind: The insurance does not take effect until two weeks after you've purchased your policy. So sooner is better. You can't notice something is wrong with your hedgehog, buy insurance, take her in to the vet the next day and have it be covered.
Does anyone know anything about Pet Assure? I don't think it's an insurance plan - it's a veterinary discount plan - but from what I understand it covers all pets, all ages, pre-existing conditions...
Called VPI tonight and they were very happy to hear that i was getting insurance! Pretty excited. I'd deffinatly reccomend them anyday
