Abnormal bloodwork

Jadyn is at the Avian and Exotic animal vet tonight, awaiting surgery tomorrow, bacteria in high levels in blood work with afew abnormalities. Lethargic and off her food x 3 days, I have been giving her liquids and food via hand feeding and syringe. She had a barium swallow with contrast and they found a mass near her kidney that is pushing down on her digestive tract. She is 4 1/2 years old. I hope she is okay and it is just a pocket infection. Any experience with this anyone? Do tumors/cancer give off bacteria? :|

Well, Jadyn had surgery, the growth was behind her gal bladder, so they took out the gal bladder and the growth. She is staying another night and came through surgery really nicely. It might be cancer, but to find out, 150.00, I am already up to 1400.00  so I passed on that. Just glad my baby girl is okay for now.

I'm glad she is doing well. :D I agree with you not spending the money to find out. Finding out will not change the outcome and there really isn't much you can do even if it is bad news. It will just make you worry more.

Thanks Nancy, she will heal and be able to run and eat and drink and play again. She already huffed and prickled at one vet after the surgery, she was mad at that "mean" person

Jadyn is home now, she ate for me, and came out to see me when she heard my voice at the vet, no prickling at me of course. Dr. Reiger said she "helped" take out her IV this morning! She is a spunky little one! Thanks for all the support everyone! She is on 4 medications too through her recovery.... :(

Jadyn is such a trooper, she is taking it easy but is bright eyed and does not seem to be in pain (she has a pain med too) She hasn't pooped or peed yet, but she drank out of her water bowl on her own while I helped hold her. She ate some carnivore diet early today, it is designed for hedgies recovering from surgery. ;)

Jadyn pooped today and is gaining her strength back. She is on a medication to help with her constipation, but she had not pooped! I gave her some baby food sweet potato and there was poop in the potty box this afternoon and tonight, and it looks normal!
