I have one and Inky and I love it. (him for pooping/running on, me for cleaning  ) It is quieter than the bucket wheel I have, and has no bearing so is completely submergable (think I spelled that wrong...) in water.

well, since it doesnt fling the poo, do you find that there is less caked on because it slides off easier? I just think that the regular wheels, being flat and sometimes curved inward, that they would just collect the poo in the bottom, but the flat disk would just let it slide to the ground..

Just curious.. I just got my hedgie today :D and i am SOO psyched... Just looking for fun things for him.> he came with LOADS of stuff, but ofcoarse.. i want MORE

I used the small version for my pet mouse and really liked it for all the reasons mentioned above. She did not like it for the following reasons.

It took up too much in the cage not leaving enough room for toys.
To run on it she had to constantly turn (this may not be an issue for a hedgehog depending on how big the large size is).
She couldn't figure out how to make it move as fast as she can make her wheel go.

And about the poo flinging, I didn't find it that bad, never had one flung out the cage or anything but it tended to spray urine if she peed while she was running on it.

In the end we just stuck with her regular old wheel that came with the cage.

I was contemplating one for the hedgehog but assumed it would have most of the same problems. Plus they are harder to find unless you order them online as petsmart doesn't seem to stock them yet and most other pet stores don't know what they are.

My hedgie has only slid off his once or twice, and it was because he got too excited and overran the wheel. I just made sure there were a couple of layers of fleece at the bottom for a landing pad, just in case. He never acted afraid of it. After he got the hang of it he hasn't had any problems. He's on it half the night now.
