| drode20 | So after I posted here, the girls poops got worse and they were put on medication twice a day for 3 weeks. we finished the medication and still nothing was different, slowly switched their food to one that was for sensitive tummies (no fish) and still nothing got better....then we realized what was going on. We moved the hedgies to a room of their own and kept the door shut while they were in there. Turns out the cat was poking at them when we weren't around and stressing them out and that was the cause of the loose stools! After a few days everything is back to normal finally!!! Now that I know how much stress has an affect on these little buggers I know what to look out for. Cats have no manners :/ |

| drode20 | Good news! Waffles skin is healing nicely!! And on another good note it seems like the girls are both starting to get more solid poops finally....I have another vet visit on tuesday and will be switching them to revolution hopefully......the hopefully this nightmare will be over... |

| shetland | You are now a well-informed consumer. Just tell the vet about your research and what you are comfortable and uncomfortable with concerning your hedgie. You want your little one treated by the safest and most effective method possible. |

only one of my girls is on antibiotics. curiously enough her poops got alot more solid after a couple of days of the meds....though a little green and inconsistent though I expected that with antibiotics...her skin is also starting to heal up the only places where it is still bad are the places it was the worst....Im starting to wonder if some antibiotics wouldn't benefit my other girl too..maybe its a gi tract thing Thanks for the support!!! |

| abbys | That's good that they're still eating, drinking and active. Are they also on antibiotics for the skin infection? Let us know how the trip to the vet goes. Sending good vibes to you! |

| drode20 | They both have had one dose of ivermectin. .01ml a piece. ..im supposed to give it again sat...but im too scared to. I have a vets appointment tuesday. I might sneak her in with my other girl to get a fecal test if hes willing....they seemed nice and meant well but I dont want to take any extra chances. Both hogs are eating a bunch and seem to be drinking on their own. They both wheel as well |

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this.  Are both of them on Ivermectin? Personally, I would stop using it.Diarrhea can cause dehydration very quickly and hedgies can go downhill fast if they don't eat or have water. Do you have a syringe you can use to give her water by hand? I don't know if this is a reaction to the Ivermectin or not, but if she has diarrhea again tonight try to get her to a vet tomorrow. |

Im getting scared.. one of our hedgehogs today had completely liquid diarrhea and the preceded to throw up and just swallow it again...after that she ran around like normal. I dunno what to do I have another vet visit coming up Im going to keep a close eye on them. Im really dissappointed that the beginning of my hedgie experience is like this

| nikki | Personally I never would use Ivermectin even when my Vet recommended it. I always used Revolution and and as my Vet said...the final decision was mine to make. |

| drode20 | Oral Ivermectin. a dose of .01ml every ten days for 5 cycles.....He had a vet book that was for hedgehogs and said that revolution only worked on some kinds of mites hedgehogs get and not one of the kinds and he redid his math over and over.....but I don't know what I should do |
