Very true, some people sell hedgies thinking they are one sex when they are in fact another! Sad, really

As several people have stated above, make sure you are prepared to house any new hedgies separately for quarantine first, and then permenantly if Bessie does not get along with them. Quadruple check to make sure any new ones are indeed females before thinking about introducing them, some people are ignorant enough not to know genders.

Good luck.

yeah, it might turn out that you won't be able to have them interact very much cause they dislike each other hopefully that won't be the case!!

that aside, it is really great that you want to pick her up so somebody who knows nothing about hogs buys her on a whim.

There is no guarantee they will get along, however I think it would be much better for someone who has experience with hedgehogs to adopt her. There is always still the chance that they will get along though and we can all hope for the best.

possibly a new hedgehog

i might get a new hedgie i just saw an add on a classifide site the add said free hedgehog hers what it said(Female hedgehog (Ozzie) is in need of a new home. She is just about 2 years old. We have not had any issues with her and she's been a good pet, however it's gotten to the point that we hardly ever get her out to play anymore which is not fair to her.
We will include all items that we have for Ozzie...plastic storage container with lid (cage), wheel, house, food/water bowls, run-about ball, and collapsible fence. ) at this point anyone could get her so i am very afraid to what home she will go to so i wrote her and said i will like to get her. i was thinking she could be a friend for bessie after she gets a vet check up.
