Ok this is not for my hedgehog but another one at the pet store. she is eating and acting normal, but she seems to have a goopie eye (SPELL CHECK) or an eye cold? Can I use vetropolycin (SPELL CK) like they use on kittens eyes for infections? I have some and thought about going to put some in there or letting the manager have it to get her better?
Did you try gently rubbing the eye with a warm washcloth? Maybe her eye just looks like that. Sometimes a film under Inky's eye will look odd when I get him up and he's tired. It's a whitish thing in the inside corner (sorry if that doesn't make any sense). Maybe I can find a pic for you...
I would wash it with a warm washcloth to remove the gunky buildup, and then put some ointment on the eye that has an antibiotic in it....if you don't notice that it's getting any better, and the pet store is not taking it to the vet, then a call to the usda may be in order.
I would make sure that no one is going to get mad and kick you out of the store before you do anything to the hedgie. Talk to the manager and make sure he/she understands how important it is to get the hedgie some medical treatment, if they don't listen then I would report them to the ASPCA
well I know he wouldn't get mad! but I just wanted to give him the medicine to do it! I haven't seen her since Friday so maybe she is better!
