Nancy | Oh no. I am so sorry. Sometimes despite us doing everything we can and all the love in the world, it's not meant to be. Big Hugs |

bug136 | Rest in peace my little Bug. She passed away in her sleep today while I was at work. Although I felt it coming, it still hurts so much; my heart is broken. I held her for 4 hours last night. At one point she crawled up my chest and nuzzled her face in my neck, she stayed there for a few minutes and then went back to sleep in her blanket. It was goodbye, and I felt it. I fed her this morning and gave her a hug. I told her to hang on and that I loved her. She looked me right in the eye and I knew she wouldn’t be around much longer. I tried so hard, and she fought so hard but in the end is wasn’t enough. She isn’t hurting anymore and im happy that she can move on, it just hurts so much for now. I will miss you my Bug. You were so small but so important to me and I love you with all my heart. Good bye my little one. |

bug136 | It has changed alot. At first it was slimy and greenish. then liquid with spots of slime. then hard mixed with liquid when she was eating the oxbowl, then turned mushy and bright green (the smell went away alittle at this point which is why i thought it was a bacterial infection and she was starting to get over it) then she started losing weight again and it turned to brown mush with lots of liquid. i tried giving her a small drop of antidiarrheal and she didn't poop last night, while at least its giving her a little respite from the diarrhea, i dont know if its good or bad that she hasn't pooped. she already was on metronidazole. no change, was also on antibiotics with no change (i cant remember the name of the antibiotic, but she has a course of antiparasitic and antibiotics) will get some goats milk after work and try that. was 177g last night. this morning was 180g but still extremely weak. didnt eat any of the food left in her cage. but she did get up and walk around cuz there are spots of urine. i dint really know if she was going to survive the night but shes still hanging in there, barely but shes there. |

Hi Will try to help, as have got a lot of experience recently with infectious diarrhoea in hedgehog. I have background medical experience. You need to describe diarrhoea in more details please. As for advice she is loosing lots of water and nutrition, and is smelly. It smells so is highly likely to be infectious, likely anaerobes, but should cover all gram negatives with Abx. Would definitely try combination of Abx ie: metronidazole to cover anaerobes in particular and something to cover gram negative bacteria like: doxycyline, cotrimoxazole or cipro/nor-floxacin. As for feeding when my hedgehog was really poor I feed her with goat milk (only goat milk, no other milk, eventually you could try lactose free milk for cats, but I never tried it before), you can try syringe feeding or from a palm, make sure milk is warm! Please describe diarrhea in more detail! |

I've used CliniCare Liquid diet which is available at the vet. It has always been well loved. Poor little girl. I don't know what to suggest other than trying to get food into her. Sending prayers and well wishes to her. |
