Re: Not again....

Well, that sounds like a good plan. I really hope that this vet is more knowledgeable and will get to the bottom of things right away instead of you having to go back over and over. When you get in the room with her/him just tell them you are worried about Preston and you have already taken him to one vet and spent all this money, etc. and you hope that we can figure out what is going on and get him better quickly. Poor little thing is so young to have all these problems! Anyway, if they gas him, which I expect they might want to do, let them cut his nails at the same time. Make sure they take a stool sample too...
Good luck and let us know what happens..

Re: Not again....

the last vet i had to take him to was emergency and they didnt have an exotic pet vet there. So she just gave me antibiotics and a quick over look. I had to make an appointment for him today with an exotic because i have to see whats wrong with the lil guy. His tummy is in bad shape maybe it could be even his food. As for his behaviour over all you can tell he is in some discomfort. He wants nothing more then to hide and sleep all day and night ( and notlet me cut his nails or bath him) though he needs it because he has poop smeared everywhere in his cage. I will definently speak to the vet about a payment plan and see if it is an option. And i belive there is a local food bank right near my apartment. The goal of today is get Preston on theright track, get him out of pain and discomfort. I just hope the vet sees i am giving up a lot of things to ensure Preston is well and maybe i can catch a break!:P

Re: Not again....

I am sorry to hear times are so tight for you right now. Have you considered visiting a local food bank? I know it is a little embarrassing but you are not alone, that is for sure. I have been to a food bank a few times in my life....As for Preston, just try calling the vet. By now they know the situation with Preston and you should be able to discuss the problem with the vet or one of the techs and they can walk you through what to do. How is he acting otherwise, besides the green poo? Maybe they can just prescribe some meds and tell you what to do for the quill (neosporin?).
You can probably also talk to the vets office about making smaller payments rather than just one lump sum for these mounting visits with Preston. They might be more understanding than you think! It is very admirable that you are willing to make such large sacrifices for Preston. That just goes to show what an awesome caregiver you are.
When I had my first hedgehog, Snoball, she developed breast cancer and I had to take her in for 2 surgeries...it ended up being very expensive and I thought to myself that next time I would get pet insurance. It may be too late to do so for Preston's current stomach problem, but you might consider it for any future issues, hopefully there won't be any though!
Hopefully someone will chime in about their thoughts on the green poo, but meanwhile I would just suggest calling the vet and trying to talk through it with someone over there. If they say you need to bring him in, blah, blah, maybe you can just say, I've brought him in several times already and I can't afford another visit right now.
Good luck

Not again....

I love Preston, but now my bank account is in the negatives. He just finished his antibiotics from his last vet trip, and i wake up with morning to a freaking mess of green diahreah. AND he has an extreamly infected quill. So we are forced to go back to the vet. Which is just bad timing because i lost my job a week ago, so we have now chosen to get him treatment over our groceries for the next week. This is all just so stressful i need him to get better. We had money aside for vets but would have never guessed it would be gone this fast. Any suggestions to make this any better?
