So I ordered my CSW and I was wondering what kind of litter is safe to put in my hedgies litter pan? Brand names would be helpful too.. thanks! :)

The two most popular options (to my knowledge) is plain paper towel or Yesterday's News cat litter (pellets of recycled newspaper). :) Both are safe for both males and females - clay cat litter and other small particle litters can get caught in private parts, especially with males.

Thanks so much! I have some pellet pine litter for cats, but ive never used it because i was concerned about the pine part of it. Do you know if that is safe?

Check the bag and see if it says whether it's kiln-dried pine or not. If it doesn't say, smell it - if it smells very piney, it's probably not kiln-dried and not safe. Pine has oils (kind of like cedar), so it needs to be kiln-dried in order to use with small mammals.

I've been using the cheapest non clumping cat ltter as it's not fine at all, kind of pebbly. Very little dust too, but I find when I wake up he's kicked some out of his pan so I'm eventually going to just put a paper towel under instead. Since he's doing well being litter trained, I don't want to make too much of a change to paper towels yet.

Okay, it doesnt say if its kiln-dried or not...but i smelt it and it smells very much like pine! So im not going to use it. Ill probably end up using paper towels. thanks again!
