Re: Good or bad idea?

Yes you can usually keep female littermates together, even once adults. Many girls even those not related like to be with a friend.

Males are a whole difference storey. Male baby litter mates usually do fine together while waiting for a new home, but problems with boys usually start when puberty hits.

I always kept each baby in a separate cage before going to their new home because it lessened the stress on them and allowed me to watch each baby for a few days to ensure he/she was eating well, gaining and not too stressed from being by themselves without mom or sibling.

Yes you can house females together 99% of the time females can be housed together their are a lot of breeders that keep like 3 females together until used for breeding then put them back together when their done with no issues. But for you yes you can keep the boys together and girls together just make sure not to keep the boys with girls. It's rare to have an issue with litter maits.

Sometimes the females will get along, but thats rare, but usually if they are related. Boys never get along and will fight. Boys and girls together = Babies, even if they are brother and sister. So its best to separate them all.

Good or bad idea?

I read that hedgehogs are solitary animals - is this true? So, would it not be possible to keep 2 or more females or 2 or more males together? I have 4 hoglets that are 5 weeks old tomorrow and they will be weaned and removed from mom in the next week or two. I know that I have to separate boys from girls at 7 weeks old but could I house the sisters together and the brothers together (in separate enclosures obviously) until such time as I find a home for them? Will there be any fighting or bullying?
