Re: new hedggie question What Christemo said. I thought Einstein was fine in a heated room until I got my digital thermometer ![]() As for the grumpiness, he's probably a baby and still getting acclimated with the new environment. Loud noises, constantly being held during the day and other things can factor into grumpiness. What kind of wheel do you have for him? Is he getting enough exercise? Given that most hedgies are sold at 6 weeks old and you've had him for 2 weeks, he's probably quilling. I've been told its like going through the terrible twos and teething at the same time. A warm bath (check the water with your wrist like you would with a baby) with Aveeno Oatmeal baby wash will help soothe the quills. ![]() |

Re: new hedggie question Your hedgehog could be in a drafty place and not actually getting the 75 degrees of the room. That's the measurement from the thermostat in the room, not from the level of his cage. Her temperature could be drastically lower if he's in a draft. I would highly suggest getting a separate heat set up for the cage. |

Re: new hedggie question As far as the grumpiness and hiding, and if you don't know his age, then it could be quilling related. If he's sleeping more, though, that could be normal or not. What temperature is his cage at? And do you have him on a light schedule? Sometimes sleeping more and being less active can be signs of being too cool. |

Re: new hedggie question Acting different isn't quite descriptive enough...How is he different? Is he grumpier? Does he hide more? Is he sleepier? Less active? If you give us some more details, we'll be able to help more. Is he still eating and drinking the same amount? And yes, how old is he? |
