Babies I hold depending on the mother most at 2.5- 3 weeks mom I hold around 4 weeks. The cage can be cleaned when babies are weaned.

I am NOT a breeder and have no experience with babies, but I've read a lot of breeding threads and feel comfortable making at least a brief comment. If a breeder contradicts anything I say, definitely listen to them over me. For holding the mom, I have no clue, to be honest. I have read that 2 weeks is the point where you can start trying to hold the babies, IF the mother is calm with it, but I can't say that that means you can hold the mother then too. However, for a full cleaning of the cage, I've seen it stressed many times that you do not want to do a full cage clean until after the babies are weaned.

I bought a hedgehog from an ex-breeder over a month ago, as it turns out she was pregent with her secound letter. They are just over 3 weeks old now and no matter how much I research I cant seem to find an answer to two questions that I really need to know.
First, when can you hold the momma hedgehog? I really miss holding her and I dont want her to turn mean.
Secound, I really want to clean out the cage. I've been scooping out the used bedding and putting in fresh bedding but it still smells horrible. Like I said they are about 3 weeks now so are they old enough for me to clean the cage?
Thanks so much for any input. This is Zuri, my hedgehog's, secound litter but my first.
