Thanks both of you (:
I feel much better.
She was eating and drinking last night, but hasn't been noticabley up yet today which is normal for her.
I bumped her cage up from the normal 74-75 to 77.

Baytril is not usually used in babies as it can inhibit bone and cartilage growth. Of course, sometimes baytril is needed as it is a strong broad spectrum antibiotic. Baytril is also very hard on their tummies.
Your vet is probably avoiding baytril because of the issues it can cause and doesn't feel it is needed. Septra is fine for hedgehogs. The time frame for getting better depends on the individual animal as well as the severity of the illness. Usually it takes 48 hours for there to be any noticeable improvement and sometimes longer than that.
Make certain she is still eating and drinking well and her cage stays nice and warm.

I assume animals with Pasteurella can be treated with the same antibiotics as humans for the same bacterial strains. I would prescribe Septra for a Pasteurella infection in a human. Hopefully, one of the mods will weigh in regarding hedgies. Good luck!

Hello, I took my baby, Tiny Dancer, to the vet yesterday because I believed she had a URI, also I had suspicions because my breeder contacted me saying the litter my baby came from where also sick.
So, her babies got baytril or something like that.. mine got Trimethoprim Septra.
I thought that was fine, I know that is an antibiotic of sorts..
But I told my breeder this, and they were unsure if that medication was proper..
My vet did not do any blood tests, but my breeders vet did and the infection was caused my pasteurella, meaning mine was caused by this as well, since my baby was sick at the time of purchase (no symptoms had been shown until 2 days later)
Is the antibiotic that was prescribed to my baby okay?
The breeder said her babies cleared up just fine with the baytril.
Mine is still very congested and it's been 24 hours since the first dose, she has gotten 3 doses.
If this medicine is okay, how long until she is cleared up?
