Re: Hedgehog and meal worms?

then it's really a personal choice based on your hedgie. some can tolerate a little more based on the size of the hedgie and their activity level. the problem is that they are high in fat so you don't want to feed too many. i personally don't feed more than 2-5 a week, but there are others that feed more. if your hedgie is a little chunkier then a good alternative is crickets they are basically empty calories, not nearly as high in fat. your higher fat worms are going to be your mealworms, wax worms, and some others i can't think of right now lol.

Re: Hedgehog and meal worms?

Did you get freeze dried ones or live ones? Freeze dried ones aren't the heathiest and have been known to cause internal blockage. Live, fresh ones are best. And it may take some time for her to realize its food.

Hedgehog and meal worms?

I tried Zira with meal worms tonight, she stayed curled up in her ball and left it alone. Even if I put it by her face she didn't bother them. I bought 100 so I'm hoping that she does like them! The people told me where I bought them that I shouldn't give her many only around 1 a week because there's something in it that can harm her and kill her? Is this true :S? They were pet store people so I'm not sure if I should believe them.
