Lurpak It’s IR light that comes on when the PIR is tripped

Aj.t Is it the LED or the IR light that turns on when the sensor is tripped? I guess I read it as the LED that was tripped and that would no doubt be v bright for them. But if it’s an IR light that turns on, it shouldn’t hurt their eyes but might still startle them enough to turn the other way if they’re not used to the light.

Mecki We also have a night vision camera setup to see our little guy. I'll watch him wander around his cage, eating and wheeling.

Chowder This blog indicates that IR shouldn't be too disturbing, but they can still see red light.

Aj.t Hedgehogs have poor eyesight and with them being nocturnal animals, bright lights can hurt their eyes so they will try to avoid it.

filming wild garden Hedgehog

Hi,

Im new to the forum as I have recently moved and have discovered a hedgehog lives in our garden, we only know this as he was caught on our security camera.

I have purchased a wildlife camera for the back garden with LED lights that come on when the sensor is tripped and it allows the camera to film.

my question is....are hedgehogs sensitive to IR lights, I'm asking this as when he walks past the camera he just turns straight round and goes the other way?

any help well received

Lurpak
