Brooke Lancelot That's adorable. I never thought about it age wise. Huh, I really wish I could tell how old Igor is. Its still a mystery to me.

Ria Holly used to sleep out in open on my chest up till when she was 4 months old. When she got to 4 months she ONLY wanted to sleep covered.

I think it can link to age too where they like being on us
And weather in the hotter weather she doesnt like laying directly on me, she still has to be touching me though😂 but in the winter she likes to be snuggled onto me more

Brooke Lancelot Lol I have a story to tell
My cousin's hedgie, Lulu, was bought by a breeder at 4 weeks? I think. And when I held her for the second time, she just fell asleep on my chest, nothing covering her, in the middle of the day with light and everything.
I didn't know anything about hogs at that point. It was the second time I held a, and saw a hedgehog.

But as I started googling and learning, I learned they like to be covered, so I put her under my shirt, and she loved it. She didn't fall asleep on my chest again, she had to be covered. So I don't think she knew that being covered on a human was a thing. Lol I don't know.
But Igor, when I got him, goodness, he didn't even wanna sleep near me, luckily now at cold temperatures, he'll sleep under my shirt too.

So maybe your hog just doesn't know he can be covered while being on a human? Lol I don't know, they are such interesting creatures

Buddysmom He seems to be getting more comfortable! He didn’t burrow or run as soon as I came into his room and he was more active when he was out this evening!

Darcie Wow after only one week he's sitting in your lap! I think that's great. I've had mine for 7 months now and he's too skittish and grumpy to do that. He has to be in a snuggle snack and still poops and pees. I still love him.

Ria Hedgehog like to hide, they like to feel safe and burrowing to hide is the most natural thing for them.
Also you've taken him from a dark environment (his cage) to a lighter environment, a lost of hedgehogs arent keen on light, so if out in the light they will do anything to hide their face.

So I'd say its normal yea.

Not sure what to think...

I got Buddy a week ago and I’m still learning his personality. He’s not aggressive (never hissed and bit once when I first brought him home) but he’s not tame or maybe he’s just not comfortable yet. It’s 9:30pm, he was on his wheel so I took him out and now he’s just sleeping in my lap (blanket on my lap). Is that normal? Is that a good sign that he’s not trying to cover his face or burrow?
