Lilysmommy They'd be okay to offer, but it'd be best to find a balanced food she's willing to eat. You could check into Carnivore Care and Hills A/D, they're both meant for sick/weak pets. CC can be bought online from Amazon, and Hills A/D should be available from your vet. You could also try other canned foods & see if anything sparks her interest. The plain cooked chicken & insects are fine to give her until you find some other options to offer - you want to make sure she keeps eating enough. Make sure that you're prepared to start syringe-feeding her just in case she goes off those too.

What temperature is her cage, by the way? It might be a good idea to bump it up a couple degrees while she's recovering - the "wobbly and weak" bit concerns me, though it's possibly just from lack of food.

Tumour removed?

My hedgehog Kai went in to get a prolapse fixed earlier this week and it came out again so the vets decided to spay her and found a huge tumour on her uterus so removed it. Her surgery was yesterday morning. She's at home now and very skinny. She's also very wobbly and weak. She drunk a lot of water and had 2 meal worms but ate none of her dry food which I even tried softening for her.

I know she'll eat more meal worms, wax worms and plain cooked chicken but she won't eat her usual dry cat food. Is it OK to give her these things instead? At least until she fattens up and gets her strength back?
