My hedgehog is 2 years old very soon :-D and she has to be put on general an ascetic whilst they clip her nails, she will be at the vets for a day and when she comes home as its almost her birthday I want to pamper her, so my question is, would it be safe to use a nail polish designed for pets on my hedgie?
I agree with Tom on both things. Is the anesthetic the absolute last possible option for clipping her nails? It can be really dangerous to expose such a small animal to that stuff, especially repeatedly. If you're able to put nail polish on her, I'd think she could also be coaxed into a trimming.
I personally wouldn't use the nail polish because even if it is animal-safe in general, your hedgie might have a bad reaction to it, either by contact, inhalation, or ingesting. Plus she won't actually understand that she's being pampered.
Agreed with above comments. If you want to pamper her, I'd suggest some extra mealworms, or a treat of wet cat food or cooked meat. A new toy or something would be nice too!
