At 5 weeks I would be suprised she would need a nail trim. It can be a little stressfull on some ,but if they are really long you may have to. It would be better to wait a while longer till she is more comfortable with you and trusts you more.

Defintly its better when they trust you, but if they are really that long that they need doing then trim them. If the are still pretty close to quick then leave it for now and do it when they are longer/ when she fully trusts you.

Hey there! Hedgehogs reach full adult size at around six months, which means by the six month mark, your hedgie should need routine nail trims fairly often. With that being said, each hedgehog is different, so your guy’s nails might just grow fast! Just take a look at them often, and if they look like they’re getting long, you’ll want to trim them. But, if they do show signs of resistance or are getting uncomfortable, don’t continue, you’ll only stress them out more! You might have to trim them over a couple day period in the beginning, to get them used and comfortable to it. And as always, treat them with their favorite snack after, so they can positively associate the routine.
Hope this helps 🙂

Theres no set age for cutting their nails, you just really cut them as and when they need them. Every hedgehog is differnt as their nails all grow at differnt paces. Play with her feet every bonding time, this will help so much more when you need to start cutting nails. And if it takes you week to get one foot trimmed dont worry, its so much slower to start with.
