Default shave or trim?

My male hedgie has a spot I can seem to get washed off that I think is dried cum stuck to hai fur. He has hurt himself before trying to get a spot off of him. Should I trim off that part of hair or shave it off? I can't seem to get t off with soap and water.

If it's in the hair and not the quills you can carefully cut the spot off with small scissors.
