Exclamation vet cost for my heddgies eyes.

I went to the vet a week ago. My heddgies eye was popping out..and she gave me medication... It didn't work, but her eye is fully out. (Clawed it out) I'm taking her to the vet again to get it sewn shut. Dose anyone know the cost if just that? Again her eye is already out. Pain meds are a given.

Your best bet is to call ahead and ask the price. Every vet is different - even the two closest vets in my area differ by $45 for the base cost of a visit.

How's she doing without the eye so far?

She's still eating and being her cute self.. Just worried she is in pain. She isn't drinking much water either :/ I have to make her.
Other than that.. Just worried about the price.

If it's okay, may I ask why and how her eye was clawed out? :/

Don't know how much it is for a hedgie, but I can tell you its about $800 for a dog. It happened twice to me last year. One playful puppy got snapped at and lost and eye, a month later my 10year old dog had a tumor behind his eye and the eye rotted... yes very expensive vet bills. Let me know how much it is

I would also be very interested in knowing the line-item costs. Cost info is hard to come by. It isn't something that people post and what is posted is scattered to the four corners.

But yes, vet costs are as high as people doctor costs. Assume expensive and hope that it is less. The visit, the anesthesia, the procedure prep . . . If the eye is lost cleanly, the actual procedure may be minimal. That probably can't be known without actually proceeding.

Your vet can give you the cost before you have it done. It varies so hearing what someone else was charged says nothing about what it would cost where you are.

You don't have to have the eye sewn shut. As long as she is on pain meds and being watched for infection, the area will heal. Although it won't heal closed what will be left is a very tiny opening.

Here's Peaches, who scratched out her eye and it was sewn closed. She was in fragile health and would not have survived gassing.

Samson had both eyes removed and sewn closed.
