Default Eye Pops

Ok, so I have a question that emerged after watching something hedgehog related.
Can hedgehogs’ eyes pop? Like Pekingese dogs, pugs etc.
I do know that pop only means it pops out of the socket if the muscles around the eye have to much stress in it, or contracts and retracts constantly. I just want to know if this can happen to hedgehogs too, seeing as it apparently happened to someone else’s hedgehog, and it’s a common thing. (?)

Yes they can suffer from proptosed eyes. They can proptose from a tumor, infection, injury, or for what seems like no reason at all. They have shallow eye sockets and protruding eyes, which causes them to be at a higher risk than some other animals. Even a slight bit of trauma can cause an eye to proptose.. How common is it? I've seen it a couple of times in my own hedgehogs and a tumor was always involved. Do a search on here and you'll find postings from folks who's hedgehogs suffered from a proptosed eye. These always require veterinary attention as soon as possible as they will lose the ability to blink/lubricate the eye.

Eye injuries in general can be fairly common in hedgehogs and can happen for a wide variety of reasons.

Wow, I thought it was just a joke! Thank you for informing me!
I really didn’t know that could happen. Now, just for paranoias’ sake, how would it look if a hedgie popped an eye?
Because one thing I’ve notice about Igor that’s different from Lulu, (my cousins hog) is that my boy’s eyes bulge out a lot more than hers.

I just thought it’s normal for albinos, or maybe he’s just born that way. What are the symptoms of eye pops? Could it have happened before I had got him and I just never knew the difference?
