Earlier today, Crouton was helped to peacefully make her way over the rainbow bridge. Her health had been rapidly declining over the past two weeks and I had to make the decision to let her go. Even though she couldn't walk or eat by herself anymore, she clung onto her grumpy personality all the way to the end.

I don't know how to cope with her empty cage, as I would be going through her nightly care routine right now. I'm heartbroken and just wish I could hear her running and chomping on food again. It's never enough time with them, is it?

I'm so sorry, Crouton. I loved you more than you know.

Sorry to read this. Its never easy saying goodbye, and sadly the kindest act of letting them go is a very stressful one. And empty cages do suck. Cleaning them out sucks, and seeing them empty is even worse. The last time my ferret nations were empty I draped a blanket over them.
