Exclamation Farewell, dear Scribbles

Scribbles passed on Nov 28, our first hedgie and our grumpiest, he huffed his way into our hearts and we had him for almost 3 years. What a journey it's been- when we got him the poor guy had mites, we learned our bathroom was not hedgie roaming safe as he discovered a small hole the contractors left in there, and he didn't care for mealies (how is that possible)?!

After battling WHS for about 6 months and after progressively worsening, we are so sad that he is gone, though we know he's better off now. He started crawling out to lay in the sun for a couple days in a row (see attached photo), and then wouldn't eat or drink one day. We knew if he did make it through the night he wouldn't much longer, so we spent the entire night holding him, gave him extra fleece to be comfy and tucked him in. In the morning he wasn't breathing but was still responding to touch, after about 5 minutes of me holding him in my hands he stuck his quills out one last time, and was unresponsive.

Rest in peace little buddy, we're so happy we could give you a better life than you started with. <3

RIP Scribbles. He was lucky to end up in such a loving home for his last few years.

It takes a special dedicated pet owner to be there, and who loved them in the end. Scribbles was blessed that way. RIP Scribbles,
