Default Mucousy Poops

You may recall a previous post in which we tried using the generic version of carefresh from Walmart with our hedgehog Luna. We ended up switching to regular paper towels since she acquired an interest in annointing and chewing on it. Soon after this, she has been acting out of sorts.

First off, her fecal matter is very inconsistent. It's been several days since the incident, But her poop has ranged from either teeny tiny to large. Usually when we get her out at night, she does and exceptional job of pooping and peeing in her designated corner. It's our little ritual. But they past 3 nights have been different. Instead of waking up, eating, drinking and then going potty; she will instead eat and then fall asleep in her potty spot. We wake her up and encourage her to go, but she will just fall right back asleep. She didn't go until we gave her a foot bath. She pooped a series of teeny tiny little poops, followed by a large poop covered with mucous and then a normal poop not covered with anything. The poops are normal colored and of good constancy.

I would normally not be concerned except for the carefresh incident. A day after that. she didn't poop one normal poop, she just pooped a ton of teeny tiny poops. I looked at her wheel the next day, and she had a series of both normal sized poops and tiny poops. Also, when we were holding her today, she lost about 7 quills.

My fiance and I are both worried about her change in behavior and poop.

Her poops are normal colored. She is only 5 months old. She has a timer for the light and a space heater with a small CHE that radiates just a small amount of heat over her sleeping area (not enough to raise it more than 2 or 3 degrees F) It's 75F. She has a wheel and is in a well ventilated cage. She's on a diet of Simply Nouorish turkey cat food and some other cat mix her first owner had (trying to VERY slowly cycle her onto the good stuff since I got her 1.5 months ago). She has a wheel and has been wheeling, eating, and drinking normally.

My Fiance and I are going to take her to the vet on Thursday or Friday if we haven't seen improvement by Wednesday.

Any thoughts? They would greatly be appreciate. We are both so worried about our little baby!

Personally I would get her to the vet ASAP. There could be a partial intestinal blockage and obviously isn't getting better on its own.

Thanks, but I can't take her to the vet until tomorrow.

Any other input?
