Question Another Green Poop Question

My Hedgehog Harley, will occasionally have green, (neon) slimy poop. It doesn't smell as bad as his brown poop. The only thing he eats are a few bites of boiled chicken breast on occasion. His main food is the Merrick Perfect Bistro, Real Chicken Recipe - It's Grain Free, Fish Free. It's 74% Protein + Fat Ingredients & 26% Carbs, Fiber, Vitamins + Minerals. Under the Guaranteed Analysis it says: Crude Protein (min) 40.00%, Crude Fat (min) 14.00%, Crude fiber (max) 7.50%, Moisture (max) 11.00%, There's other ingredients as well. I called the pet store where we got him and they said he could be eating too much protein and I should be feeding him the "8 In 1 Ultra-Blend Select Hedgehog Diet." I know it's lower in protein and has gluten & wheat in it! I sure don't know why they'd recommend me feeding this crap to my boy! I was wanting to know if there are any lower protein, grain-free cat foods I should try to feed him. He's a very picky eater. He really loved the Merrick food and I only give him around a Tablespoon of it a day. I just worry when I see that neon, green poop. Thanks!

The protein is really high in that food, you want to keep it in the low 30% range, and that could be bothering his stomach. If you check labels you should be able to find a food with lower protein for him that's still good quality.

The protein is too high and so is the fat. Consider having a food with less of those 2. Have a read around here, there is tons of good recommendations.

74% protein is for maybe Puppies but not for hedgehogs. Sorry, but even 40% is too high. I believe the right protein % for hedgies is 28-30. not more than that.

Also, some hedgehogs will constantly have a little green poop. Mine is one of them, they say it's nothing to worry about as long as they are eating drinking and running. You might be able to fix it with probiotic powder.
