Default ultrasound images...

Dear all...
Unariccia and I wanted to share with you all the really cool images doctors took yesterday when Unariccia had her very first ultrasound scan.
in 2 years and 3 months since she was born, she happened to bleed while peeing only twice. last time it occurred when I "rescued" her from my parents' house where they babysit her for one week while I was away.
My mom freaked out coz she felt like she did something wrong and caused the bleeding....and in order to alm her down I decided to go to the vet and have Unariccia checked.
the Doc told me that a minor Endometritis (infection of the inner lining of the uterus) might be the cause of this very occasional bleeding...he suggested in the future she might get spayed :'(
but I was wondering, why cannot this be treated with antibiotics, since it's caused by bacteria that climbed up from the outside? why the only solution is spaying?
anyway, have a look at the images of Unariccia's organs....her tiny lovely heart moved me to tears!!!!

I would get her spayed. Uterine issues can cause such problems for our girls and better it is taken out to prevent whatever else could be developing.

Our Emma had endometriosis and she went almost bald before she started to bleed. It was a hormonal issue caused by the endometriosis.

My apologies. I read it as endometriosis. I don't know anything about endometritis but if it is caused by infection, I think a spay is still the way to go.

When done by an experienced vet spaying a hedgehog is considered no more of a risk than spaying a cat or dog. Laser surgery is preferable as it is a shorter surgery, less blood loss, and a faster heal time. She will also need pain meds for a few days afterward and have her wheel taken away.

I was afraid so. my vet said it's not urgent ( I need to leave the country again soon for 2 weeks) but really hope there's no other bleeding while at my oldies'. don't really want them to feel guilty. they follow all my instructions and are super sweet to her.
anyway, I feel horrible at the idea of spaying her
she's only 2 years and 3 months old....
