Maybe talk to your vet and mention that you had a certain amount saved up for vet costs, but this situation is exceeding it. Maybe they have some options.
Melanie, I will do this on Friday. We go back in then to check on progress, and that will probably be the day they keep her to do the surgery. It certainly can't hurt to ask, right? Thanks for the tip, I hadn't really thought about doing that!

I just noticed you are from Surrey! I'm about 5.5 hours away from you in a tiny town (ever been to Salmon Arm?).
I hope your vet can offer some assistance or advice.

yep, I totally have been to Salmon Arm! That's so awesome to know there's another hedgehog fanatic fairly close by If you were about 1.5 hours closer, I'd totally say let's meet halfway for a hedgie playdate and coffee, lol. But if you are ever going to be in the Lower Mainland, do please feel free to let me know you are coming, and we can totally get together!

I was just down in Vancouver, although it wasn't for a happy reason as I was going to say goodbye to my favourite uncle. I'll be up again in September for his service on the 21st, but it'll just be a quick (and emotional) trip.
My aunt and some friends live at the Coast, so I will likely be up again sometime soon!
Nobody quite understands my hedgehog obsession...

Too bad vet costs aren't deductible for taxes. Or you could claim them as dependents!

I'm on the other end of this--Nara had never cost much but food until this year when she had her "hedgie hysterectomy". It sure adds up fast, glad I only have one!

I keep asking that to the guy who does my taxes. He keeps saying no. I did hear something though about it being a possibility in the future.
