Default Lump on Shoulder

It doesn't look terribly serious, I'm thinking an ingrown quill. The drop of blood is from me poking at, trying to see if I could press a quill or puss out (nothing came out). It looks a little pink, and definitely swollen. It's definitely painful for her - Quinnlee won't let me hold/pet her like she usually does.

At what point to I make this a vet thing? I know sometimes ingrown quills can be resolved at home, but I don't want to wait for it to become a real threat to her health.

Does it look like something other than an ingrown quill?

It looks like an abscess to me from an infection. I'd do the vets.

Oh, no! Maybe the vet can give her medication for it...
Feel better, Quinnlee!

She has another lump on her visor, and it's definitely an ingrown quill. Some puss came out of the lump when I pressed it. Neosporin for now. Can't wait for the vet visit.

Maybe she's going through an awkward teenager acne stage. :P

I hope she feels better. Let us know how the vet goes!

Off to the vet tomorrow. The bump already looks better! But it can't hurt to have it looked at.

The vet was thinking it was potentially a tumor, but once Quinnlee was knocked out and he had a better look, he determined it was just an ingrown quill with infection He cleaned it out and sent us home with antibiotics. I'm so glad that's all it was!
Haley likes this.
