Well, we did 10 days of antibiotics, and it had looked like we were in the clear, but today her scab came off and it was evident she still has an infection, even if the area didn't look irritated. I cleaned out the wound as best as I could (lots of thick white puss) and QL's now back on her antibiotics (another 10 day round). Tomorrow I am going to pick up some saline solution to do daily wound cleaning. I feel so bad for my girl if these antibiotics don't work we'll be back at the vet.

Poor girl! Since the area doesn't look infected, maybe it's just "leftover" pus that's still working its way out of her body. Do hedgehogs ever get cysts? I hope these antibiotics work!

they do get cysts, and I'm hoping it's just cleaning itself out - that's what puss is for lol.

She is not happy with me, but I flushed out the wound with more saline after pressing out a tiny amount of purulent goo today. Then she got neosporin for the outside and her BID antibiotics for the inside. She's cleaned and protected on both sides of her body, even if I can't put a dressing on the wound.

How did the vet clean out the ingrown quill? I'm taking in my hedgehog on Saturday, and he has a bump on his right back similar to the picture you posted. I'm hoping its just an ingrown quill with an infection.
