Default Staph/Biomox

Gonna try to keep this short. Peanut just got over a hibernation attempt followed by a URI not long ago. He was on an antibiotic for that which cleared it all up quick. Now about 6 weeks later he has what is believed to be a staph infection. Today the vet started him on Biomox.

My questions: is Biomox a good, safe antibiotic for him? And is going on yet another antibiotic in such short time going to cause him more health issues by lowering his immune system?

These are questions you should be asking your vet.

If your vet has never treated a hedgehog for an infection, there are people on this forum who are much more educated on the matter. Her degree as a vet is nice and all, but I need advice from someone with real world experience.

Vets learn about most animals and have reference books to tell them what drugs to use for different species. They also know more about the effects of antibiotics on the immune system than we will know. If you don't trust your vet then you might want to consider getting a second opinion by calling another vet and asking them.
