Default Skin discoloration/change?

I have an almost 1 year old guy named Otis,

I noticed a few weeks ago on his head his skin has changed from greyish black to more white.

It's not bumpy, or irritating him, as he's not scratching or fussy at all, and the rest of his skin seems normal, aside from one other little whiter patch where his quills are lighter colors.

I can attach pictures if needed but just wanted to see if this is normal?

Hello. Im not sure in what has happened but I’ll take a guess. Depending how old your hedgie is, he could be just changing colours. During a hedgehogs life, the skin colour and prickles can change. The first year is usually the time they can change colour. However I wouldn’t take chances on this and I do recommend a vet if you feel you should.
Hope your hedgie is ok. Good luck

He's acting totally fine, and it's not spreading or growing...it's so...random.

If he’s acting normal and is just being himself, it might just be a colour change stage. My hedgehog changed whiter on her back when she was younger.

I think best to post some pictures to see if someone recognises what it could be. But if in doubt always go to the vet.
