Default Infection under tail?

Last night i noticed a yellowy patch of skin under my hedgehogs tail, I managed to get a picture when he was scratching and it looks like there are some raised bumps there. Is this some kind of infection? I messaged the breeder who just said to keep an eye on it, do you think I should take him to the vet? He is 10 weeks old and I have only had him for just over a week. Otherwise he seems perfectly normal, pooping peeing and eating fine.

I think it's best to take him to the vet and get it looked at. Just to be on the safer side of things.

I don't have experience with very young hedgies but that does not look good. Is he pooping ok (not struggling/constipated) and is the poop normal in colour/texture/size? He doesn't seem to have much hair either but I don't know if this is normal for a hog so young.

Perhaps Nikki will see this and give you her advice, she has experience with breeding and young hogs.

That's not how the anus in a hedgehog is supposed to look, I don't know what it is but I'd have it checked out to rule out anything serious.

Thank you everyone for your replies. He is pooping and eating normally and seems normal in his behaviour and does not seem in any pain or discomfort, but I have booked an appointment at the vets for tomorrow. I have tried to get a look at it to see if it is any better/worse but he never sits still. Fingers crossed he is okay

That's good you've managed to get an appointment for tomorrow. Keep us posted what the vet says, hopefully it is nothing serious and can be treated easily
Also when you eventually give him a bath, Id just use water and not add anything to it until his skin looks normal.
