Exclamation Purple line from belly button to anus

During todayís bath, we noticed a line of purple-ish skin discoloration on the belly of our four year old hedgie, Bear. Itís purple/brown and runs from his belly button to his anus, and there are a few little similar spots over near his legs.

Some recent health history: about six weeks ago, Bear started to get a little wheezy and had some dry red skin, so we brought him to the vet, who gave us a mite treatment and a two week course of antibiotic, which we finished about 3 weeks ago. Since the antibiotics, Bear has been anointing a BUNCH. His cage is near my desk and Iíve been hearing him make some slurpy noises almost every day.

Heís four and this is a new/sudden change, so I donít think this is mottling. Could this be a heat rash-type thing from anointing a bunch? Itís not on his quills where he normally anoints though, so Iím not sure if Iím feeling that, but itís worth a mention.

About 2 days ago, I did notice he had a little bit of poop left behind smeared between his anus and his quills (so the opposite direction of this current new coloring), could it be an infection, related to poop?

In my web searching I havenít found things that look like what Bear is experiencing, so any help would be appreciated, especially with photos!

Our vet does do exotics, but she didnít seem super knowledgeable about hedgehogs so Iím not ready to rush right back to her.

Pictures would be helpful, but I would at least give the vet a call and describe what you're seeing. They can let you know if you should bring him in again.

Posting one now; when I first made the post it wouldn’t let me include pics!

It was even more noticeable when he was wet from a bath, we are planning on giving him another one tomorrow in case this is irritation, so we will try to get another when his fur is wet
