Help! Red irritated mark near hedgies eye

Im a first time owner, with an adopted hedgehog that is about 4 years old. Ive only had him for 3 months but so far everything has been fine. In the last 12ish hours hes developed a mark, about 5mm wide that's very red and looks like it might have been and some blood, but no cut or scratch? Almost looks like its under the skin. Its on his nose, very close to his eye. It isn't swollen and he is behaving normally, eating and running around, although he was very huffy if I tried to touch him and normally hes not too bad!
Any advice would be much appreciated
