Default Itchy hedgehog

My new hedgehog has been scratching quite a bit. She is 7 week old today, could she just be quilling?
She has fleece bedding, but it is brand new and she was on aspen wood chips before.
Otherwise she acts normal

Thanks for any help

It sounds like mites she could be quilling but hedgehogs don't normally itch during quilling. You should go to a vet, however don't let the vet give intervectim instead have the vet use revolution, giving intervectim to a hedgehog is like giving rat poison to a baby.... it won't end well.

You hedgehog could have dry skin. My hedgehog itches too because her skin was a bit dry and also they itch when they are quilling because it can me uncomfortable. She's been itching less though ever since I gave her a oatmeal bath and I also mix a little coconut oil with water and put it on her back while I was bathing her. I would really assume that's it definitely mites. They get itchy while quilling and she could have dry skin. There's a good chance she doesn't have mites.

Sorry I meant to type that I really wouldn't assume it's mites.

Anytime you bring a new hedgehog home, it is a great idea to take them for a wellness check at the vet's. It's an excellent way to establish you and your hedgehog with a vet in case later care is needed, and the vet can look over your new little friend to check for mites or skin infections (which seem to be very common in hedgehogs).
Intense itching is often a sign of mites, and it wouldn't hurt to have a wellness check done anyway.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies everyone!
Over the days since I got her and switched her to the fleece bedding, she has been itching less and less, im hopeing that the bedding change solved the problem.
If she keeps up the itching or it gets worse again, I'll deninantly get her checked out by a veterinarian.
