Default Dry patch, skin flakes with quills

After taking my hedgehog out to clean its cage and give him a bath, I noticed a very dry spot where his white fur should be. Also, when I was giving him a bath, chunks of dry skin flakes were falling off along with quills attached to them. I got my hedgehog February of last year and this has never happened before. I've never seen him itch or scratch, he just seems to have very dry skin. Any tips on how to deal with this on my own or should I just take him to the vet? I attached some pictures of his dry spot.

That lo Is like more than just dry skin. My guess is it's either a bacterial or fungal infection. He's going to have to see a vet.

This won't help you much but since you've had your hedgehog for longer than I have I figured I'd ask you. I've had my Luna since around April (she was already 6 months old) and she didnt get socialized with very much. She recently has been dropping quills with flakes or balls at the end of them, but I'm curious whether it's her quilling or having mites. I have always used aspen with her but I freeze it over night. Last night when I had her out she lost five quills and I became worried of mites or something. Any chance you could help with telling if it's mites or normal quilling ?? I will attach a few pics of the quills last night

I don't think I've ever seen quills with anything attached to them. It could be just skin though. I could ask for you when I take mine to the vet.
