Hi guys, i am really scared for my little guy. I have it for a week from a pet shop and this is how his little cute ear is looking. I took him to vet and he said that the black part will fall. He is scratching a lot on both ears ( the other one looks normal). have any of you experienced something like that? is that like fungus? how serious is it ? PS sorry for my bad english

It looks like his ear was injured before you got him. The black part will fall off but he will be fine. He will just have an ear that is different. because the ear is healing that's probably why he's scratching at it.

Thank you so much for your answer! I am new in this community and it's very nice to meet others who are hedgie parents ( in my country is a very unusual thing to have a hedgehog pet)

I have some other concern about his little ear: let's say he will be scratching until his ear will fall down but then it wouldn't be an open wound? what should i do then? (there is only one exotic pet vet in my city and it's not in town for 2 weeks)

When it falls off there might be a small open wound but it shouldn't be anything serious. Just keep an eye on it and if it starts looking swollen or really red or hot then he will need to see the vet. I should heal up fine on it's own.
