Remy has been battling dry skin since i brought her home. She gets baths with Aveeno Baby Soothing Oatmeal twice a month, maybe once a month in the winter. Then i put a little olive oil and brush it into her quills.
Even with all this, she STILL has dry skin. Like flakes just fall off anytime i handle her. I know its not mites because i see nothing moving and she is not scratching. I have read that i can put a tiny bit of oil in her food and sometimes that can help from the inside. What kind of oil do you recommend? Can i just use the Olive Oil? Or do i need to find a different kind of oil? Thanks! |

http://blog.critterconnection.cc/tre...-for-dry-skin/, I looked up your question and found this-hope it helps. Only problem with oil is that you cab't add too much of it. DO NOT put olive oil on under direct heat.

Olive oil, coconut oil and flaxseed oil are all very popular options.
Twice a month is a lot of baths. You might want to decrease the number, or the times the soap is used. Also, dry skin is normal for them. Excessive dry skin or deep cracking could be a sign a vet needs to do some checking to make see what's the cause. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't know much about this topic but I would suggest less baths. When I first got a hedgehog I read that they should only be bathed a couple times a year... So every month or so seems like an awful lot to me. Try some of the other peoples opinions on the oils and then cut back on the baths as well. This should do the trick. Best of luck!
