Unhappy Dry skin, fur loss, and quilling

I recently changed Ramzi off of aspen bedding into a fleece lining, but before whenever I handled him, I would put him back into his cage and notice that there were white flakes on me along with little hairs. Sometimes he would also leave quills but very few. Could anyone please help me solve this weird thing that's happening? Thanks!

My hedgie leaves behind flakes of dry skin and hairs as well. Observe the little flakes and see if any are moving. If they are moving that's mites also if you notice your hedgehog is scratching a lot. I went to the vet and was told it's just dry skin. My vet also told me that hedgehogs can shed in the summer so if there isn't mites then it's all good! I would try putting some olive or coconut oil in the food or directly on the skin (not if you believe something is wrong though because oils can make skin infections worse) and oatmeal baths I know that baths with an oatmeal baby wash has helped for Pickles and if you give baths often try to cut it back a lot (try once every 3-4 weeks). Water can easily dry out their skin. For the quilling it depends on what age your hedgie is. I know that its normal for them to lose a couple here and there. Hope I helped a bit! I'm sure one of the more experienced owners will add in anything I missed
